BrainLAB uni-knee

Navigation Software that Provides Greater Control and Confidence in Uni-Compartmental Knee Surgery

  • Figure 1
Fast and straightforward digital landmark acquisition delivers patient-specific anatomical information
  • 3D planning allows optimization of the implant position before any cuts are made
  • Advanced leg-alignment analysis provides intra-operative feedback
  • Cut navigation gives comprehensive real-time information for accurate bone resections

BrainLAB software for uni-compartmental knee surgery provides the surgeon with a high level of control and confidence that is difficult to achieve in conventional surgery. This software allows key anatomy to be visualized that would otherwise be difficult to access. Virtual 3D treatment planning supports the definition the optimal implant position, which is crucial to the outcome of the surgery.

Figure 2
This ensures the implant position is optimized for each patient before any cuts are made (Figure 1). The implant position can be verified prior to the surgery with  special kinematic-analysis software, thereby minimizing any marginal error in planning. The navigation system provides continuous control throughout bone preparation. This allows the surgeon to make confident decisions that result in more-predictable surgical outcomes.

All surgical instruments are tracked and displayed on a navigation screen. This provides the surgeon with comprehensive real-time information that enables precise instrument alignment and bone cutting. (Figure 2)

Figure 3
It is also possible to intra-operatively verify and optimize bone resections. Margins of errors can be discovered and corrected during surgery. Kinematic evaluation software also provides quantitative information to verify optimal leg alignment at the end of the surgery (Figure 3).
