Computer Engineer – Linux and Network technology for medical devices

Our passionate Brainlab platforms team develops the Brainlab hardware for our image-guided surgery and digital O.R. portfolio. These state-of-the-art computer systems offer our surgeons easy access to the Brainlab software capabilities of today and tomorrow.

Your focus will be in applying your computer knowledge in the development of our devices. As part of a highly motivated team of technical experts you will deal with the computer hardware, operating systems and the network configuration in order to define an efficient device supporting our medical use cases. With your expertise you will contribute to our next generation Brainlab products while considering worldwide technical and regulatory standards as well as the latest cybersecurity practices.

Typical areas of your responsibility are:

  • definition and customization the computer hardware and network communication of our next generation Brainlab devices
  • advanced configuration of operation systems (OS) with focus on Linux
  • definition and execution of tests
  • preparation of OS image deployment in cooperation with our support and production teams
  • creation of the product documentation
  • ensuring that our hardware and OS is secure, safe and effective during the whole product lifetime


In this challenging position you will work in a team together with our experienced development engineers and you will collaborate with our internal service engineers as well as suppliers and test houses.


  • background in computer science or IT technology and relevant work experience
  • good understanding of computer architecture and networks
  • experience with installing, configuring and deploying operating system GNU/Linux
  • having fun solving challenging technical problems
  • knowledge in the area of cybersecurity
  • experience with PowerShell or Shell scripting is a plus
  • knowledge of software development (e.g. Python, C++) is a plus
  • enjoy project work and pleasure of being part of an international team
  • fluent English skills and eagerness to learn German
