Job Description

  • Developing suitable IP strategies and maintaining IP processes with R&D entities within the Brainlab group, locally and international
  • Support M&A processes from due diligence to integration of new entities
  • Training of R&D employees in existing and new teams regarding IP fundamentals, strategies, tools and processes
  • Support digitalization of intellectual property processes by selecting and implementing suitable digital tools
  • discussion with inventors, R&D and management about inventions and their patentability; provide feedback to R&D and prepare GM decisions
  • handling of invention disclosures, patent research, patent prosecution and preparation of litigation procedures in cooperation with external patent attorneys
  • Close cooperation with external service providers on technical and admin level and ensuring standardization of processes among several providers
  • Supporting FTO and patent monitoring processes in cooperation with external service providers


  • Studies in medical engineering, mechanical engineering, biotechnical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, computer science and/or patent engineering
  • experience in intellectual property in an international corporate environment
  • Interest in technical, legal and business-related topics
  • Quick understanding of technical topics in medical hard- and software
  • Competent handling of the modern features of MS Office and MS Teams
  • Clear and structured working style
  • Excellent communication skills within an IP team, with R&D, legal, product management, GM, marketing and patent attorneys, research agencies, tool providers, in German and English
