Project Engineer Medical Devices – Focus on Regulatory Approval

For our R&D Joint Reconstruction Division at Brainlab we are looking for a new Project Engineer in cooperation with Smith & Nephew. You will work together with a motivated team that enables novel robotic surgical procedures in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine. Your contribution has an impact on daily work in hospitals around the world.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards as well as regulations
  • Creation of complete technical documentation according to international and company standards
  • Maintenance activities for documentation of existing medical products
  • Performance and/or coordination of functional tests of medical devices
  • Clinical evaluation & validation
  • Communication with suppliers, development partners, manufacturers and other internal teams (QM, QA, Usability, Purchasing, Legal)
  • Identification, establishment and drive of cooperation with international external partners on system, component and service level
  • Full responsibility within a defined project


  • Education in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent working experience
  • Experience in the preparation of technical documentation for medical devices, in particular knowledge of product-related standards and regulations such as FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485
  • Very good communication and excellent documentation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English, German is a strong plus
  • Well organized and clearly structured working and documentation style
