Job Description

Our passionate Video and Edge Processing team develops the Brainlab hardware for our future Digital O.R portfolio. These state-of-the-art medical systems offer our customers easy access to the Brainlab software capabilities of today and tomorrow. 

As a Senior Design Engineer Electronics you will work on the latest innovative 4K/8K real time video processing hardware for the OR. In addition you will contribute to our sophisticated multi-video camera hub. You will be in charge of bringing the electrical/electronic engineering activities for the new generations of our products to the next level. 

Key areas of your responsibilities are to

  • define electrical/electronic requirements for the complete system
  • ensure that design complies with applicable standards (industrial and medical)
  • support the identification and mitigation of risks
  • plan, define and perform design verification activities 
  • characterize high speed video and 10G ethernet interfaces
  • support external certification activities (EMC lab)
  • coordinate activities with development partners and suppliers
  • transfer knowledge towards production for novel solutions
  • plan and manage feasibility studies

In this position you work closely together with our colleagues from the FPGA and software team and our interdisciplinary project teams.  



  • degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • at least 5 years of hands-on experience in: 
    • analog and digital electronics
    • integration, testing, and verification of complex electrical/electronic systems
    • using test equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, signal generators
    • writing and executing test plans and reports
    • reviewing circuit schematics and PCB layouts.


  • programming e.g.: C, Python etc
  • knowledge of FPGAs
  • linux operating system and bash scripting
  • working experience in the medical device area
  • knowledge of IEC 60601-1 Basic Safety and IEC 60601-1-2 EMC


  • comprehensive communication skills in German and English
  • ability to interact with engineering colleagues, development partners and suppliers as well as with management on top-level goals
  • highly self-organized, structured thinking and good time management
  • part of a highly motivated multi-disciplinary international team
