Project Engineer – Medical Electronic Devices


For our division R&D Instruments we are looking for a (Senior) Project Engineer. You will be part of a motivated team, developing and continuously improving Medical Electronic Devices needed for optical and electro-magnetic tracking procedures with focus on neurosurgery. Your contribution has an impact on daily work in hospitals resulting in improved treatments of our patients around the world.

Your main tasks are:

  • Analyzing product failures reported to our CAPA system and creating strategies for product improvements together with our external development and manufacturing partners which includes:
    • Performing failure root cause analysis and developing concepts for design or manufacturing processes improvements
    • Coordinating prototyping and testing to verify safety and effectiveness of implemented changes
    • Updating the Requirements & Specifications, Risk Management & Usability documentation
    • Maintaining the technical documentation to comply with internal standards, current technical standards and FDA and European Medical Device Regulations
  • Working in small teams developing new reusable and sterile disposable Medical Electronic Devices from first idea to market launch including:
    • systematic creation of concepts and proof thereof
    • patent research and filing of own ideas
    • co-develop Medical Electronic Devices with our external partners
    • Compiling the complete technical documentation
  • Driving the development process through own ideas and innovations
  • Taking own area of responsibility within a matrix organization


  • education in electronic engineering or related discipline
  • enthusiasm for technology and a creative mind
  • a well-organized and clearly structured work style
  • ability and commitment for problem solving
  • good communication skills in general
  • good written and oral communication skills in English
  • good German is a strong plus
  • knowledge of IEC 60601-x is a strong plus
  • first experience with Regulation 2017/745 (MDR) is a strong plus
  • work experience in the area of Medical Electronic Devices is a plus
  • knowledge of ISO 10993-x standards are a plus
