Job Description

As a (Advanced) Project Engineer in the R&D Department, you will be part of an interdisciplinary and highly skilled team, responsible for a wide range of instruments (risk class I, IIa, and III) that are used in various clinical use cases.

Your work includes the support of ongoing development projects, continuous engineering of existing products, and you will be responsible for ensuring that our medical devices stay ahead of the competition. Your contribution has an impact on daily work in hospitals around the world.

Typical areas of your responsibility are:

  • Project Engineering tasks for development projects with a focus on Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Instruments
  • Coordination of internal and external product development activities
  • Definition and review of technical concepts
  • Set-up of prototypes and qualification of product components
  • Definition and execution of verification tests
  • Creation and support of the medical device product documentation (e.g. risk management, ageing tests and biological evaluation)
  • Communication with R&D departments, manufacturers, and other internal teams (QM, Production, Usability, Purchasing, Legal)
  • Expert competency ownership within the team
  • Managing small projects

Qualifications

  • Education in Engineering, preferably in biomechatronic, mechanical, biomedical or medical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent working experience
  • Experience with technical documentation for medical devices under MDR, MDD and/or FDA
  • Experience with sterile goods (preferably ethylene oxide and/or steam)
  • Experience with CAD tools (preferably Solid Works)
  • General knowledge of manufacturing methods; e.g. soldering, injection molding
  • Material selection and pairing expertise; biocompatibility optional.
  • Analytical mindset and creativity to develop reliable solutions
  • High documentation quality standards
  • Well-organized and clearly structured working style
  • Fluent written and spoken English and German
