UKRO 2016

UK Radiation Oncology Conference

About UKRO 2016

This three day multi-disciplinary scientific conference will offer essential updates and the latest information from leading industry speakers relevant to clinical oncologists, therapeutic radiographers, radiotherapy physicists, clinical radiobiologists, clinical technologists, dosimetrists and oncology nurses. The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for delegates to exchange ideas, engage, debate, showcase their research and practice and network.

Overview

COMPLETE RADIOSURGERY WORKFLOWS

Brainlab will be showcasing the new Elements portfolio at this year’s UK Radiation Oncology (UKRO) Annual Conference in Liverpool including efficient and effective software applications such as the new Elements Cranial  SRS* and Spine SRS* software. All Elements are designed to streamline and expedite the radiotherapy treatment planning process.

New to UKRO this year, Brainlab will be showcasing TRAMs*, a neuro-oncological workflow to differentiate tumor progression from treatment effects.

Elements Cranial SRS is a unique application that optimizes the treatment planning process for indications including AVM, pituitary adenoma, vestibular schwannoma, meningioma and large metastases. These indication-specific and intelligent workflows automate planning so caregivers can spend more time with patients and less time on technology.

To achieve excellent dose planning and metrics and a highly conformal dose for spine, an algorithm of the new Elements Spine SRS internally breaks down planning target volumes into a number of smaller targets. Consequently, the dose to the spinal cord can be minimized and, in doing so, potentially improve patient outcomes.

DECISION MAKING TRAMS – TREATMENT RESPONSE ASSESSMENT MAPS

Brand new this year at ESTRO is TRAMs—Treatment Response Assessment Maps—a method developed in collaboration with Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv.

TRAMs are used in neuro-oncological decision making to differentiate tumor progression from treatment effects such as pseudo-progression or radiation necrosis. The method works by acquiring two MRI images—one at two minutes and another at 75 minutes after the injection of the contrast agent—and subtracting the first image from the second. Tumor cells, which have efficient contrast agent clearance, show up blue on the subtracted image, while non-tumor tissues with less efficient clearance appear red, allowing clinicians to determine further course of treatment.

EXACTRAC® PATIENT POSITIONING AND MONITORING

In combination with Elements, Brainlab will showcase workflows for Cranial, Spinal and Lung radiosurgery using ExacTrac®Patient Positioning and Monitoring.

For Lung, ExacTrac Motion Management* provides a patient tailored treatment with significantly reduced safety and motion margins with increased sparing of surrounding healthy tissue and side-effect free treatment regimes.

MULTIPLE BRAIN METASTASES SRS

Multiple Brain Metastases SRS, part of Brainlab Elements, allows delivery of highly conformal single-session treatments while helping to minimize dose spread to surrounding healthy tissue. Planning and treatment time can be significantly reduced even with as many as 10 tumors to treat.

ANATOMICAL MAPPING

After analyzing customer feedback and gaining better insights to the many limitations of the common auto-segmentation approach, Brainlab introduces Anatomical Mapping—a universal software model of the human anatomy that is not limited to certain organs but thoroughly defines bony and vascular structures, muscles and fat tissue. Tissue classes can be displayed with different levels of detail, include anatomical landmarks or may be grouped into regions.

NOVALIS CERTIFIED™ ACCREDITATION PROGRAM

Novalis Certified promotes high standards in SRS and SBRT by helping to ensure the delivery of cranial and body radiosurgery at a level of efficacy and safety that corresponds with best practice clinical workflows.

Built upon the guidance of the Novalis Expert Panel, Novalis Certified builds on other accreditation programs available with a dedicated focus on attaining excellence in SRS and SBRT.

Come by booth #104 + 105 for hands-on demonstrations and to explore our entire range of radiosurgery products.
