At Brainlab, we fully support our employees’ personal and professional development. Nadja’s Brainlab story begins 15 years ago as a student at the reception desk and has developed over the years into an exciting career as a Senior Clinical Consultant. Read her full story here…
My journey with Brainlab started in March 1999 when a friend asked me to help out as a receptionist during school break. After a while on board as temporary staff, I was asked if I would be interested in starting an apprenticeship, which is how I became a full time employee. I had always dreamt of going abroad, and my dream came true when Brainlab sent me to our subsidiary in the States in September 2000. The trip was originally scheduled for 6 months, but ended up lasting 8 years. I was offered a position as Contract Coordinator in San Francisco, taking care of all North American orders for Image-guided Surgery. Later, with some added responsibilities, this position developed into a Sales Coordinator position in Chicago, covering the Northeast Region.
I moved to New York in 2003 at which time I became curious about clinical backgrounds. I applied to the NYU School of Medicine to become a Surgical Technologist. This practical experience opened up new possibilities for me at Brainlab and I continued my career as Clinical Specialist, Application Consultant and Application Trainer.
With my newly gained knowledge, I understood the clinical environment and spoke the same language as the medical staff in the operating room, which allowed me to cover cases and train doctors and nurses on the correct use of our Image-guided Surgery products.
In 2008, I returned to Germany and slipped into a global specialist role for our integrated OR solutions, which included installations of operating rooms with intraoperative MR and CT scanners. When the company restructured, the opportunity arose to become part of the new clinical research team, in which I am presently working in as Senior Clinical Consultant. In this role, I engage in a variety of clinical cooperations and take part in exciting projects with neurosurgeons to continuously improve our products.
My Brainlab journey thus far has had an incredible impact on my life. I have an interesting job, get to see the world and continue to meet wonderful and inspiring people every day.
