Software Engineer - Functional & Stereotactic Neurosurgery


What to expect

We are looking for a Software Engineer to strengthen our Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery team for the future challenges. Our passionate team is responsible for medical software applications for complex Neurosurgery and Neurology procedures, especially indicated to improve neurological disorders like Parkinson Disease. These include the Stereotaxy Element family for planning, localizing and verifying trajectories and leads and the Guide Element we develop for our partner Boston Scientific to aid Neurologists in Deep Brain Stimulation programming.

As a Software Engineer in our team, you will be involved in the development process from the architectural design until final product launch. As part of a multi-disciplinary team including experienced Software Engineers and mentors, you will use your programming skills in HTML5 to realize the user interfaces for our applications and in C++ to create backend application software.

 Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Design and implement robust software that helps the user plan, execute and verify surgeries using technologies such as modern C++ 17 and HTML5
  • Close cooperation and communication with software engineering specialists from other R&D teams
  • Using Brainlab's framework code base to realize all fields of our software like data handling, application logic, visualization and graphical user interface
  • Prepare software for release according to medical standards for European and US markets

What you offer

  • You have an education in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent working experience
  • You have fun with applications development and C++ is a programming language you command well
  • Preferably, you are also confident with HTML5

  • Fluent English, eagerness to learn German and ability to communicate with colleagues from all around the world and different areas of specialty complete your profile
