On Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, a concert will launch the Bayerische Staatsoper’s JA, MAI festival, which brings together early and contemporary compositions.
As a sponsor of this event through the Brainlab Culture Program, Brainlab is thrilled to host the concert at its headquarters in Munich. Titled “Listen up”, musicians from the Bayerische Staatsorchester and singers from the Opernstudio will perform pieces by Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) and Toshio Hosokawa (born 1955).

The evening will also feature a conversation between composer Toshio Hosokawa and Serge Dorny, Artistic Director of the Bayerische Staatsoper, during which Hosokawa will provide insights into his creative process.

This second edition of the JA, MAI Festival revolves around themes of “expectation”. The festival explores motifs such as waiting, the passing of time, the question of letting go or holding on, and the various semantic dimensions of time.

The Brainlab Culture Program initiates creative projects and partnerships in the areas of art, music and cultural education, connecting high tech with the arts.
