Brainlab to acquire Voyant Health Ltd
Voyant Health’s technology complements Brainlab in several ways. Brainlab will create new possibilities in orthopedics with the integration of TraumaCad and OrthoWeb™ with Brainlab orthopedic surgical navigation technology. VoyantLink will expand the framework for Quentry™, the groundbreaking online network for physicians developed by Brainlab.
“Brainlab and Voyant Health are incredibly synergistic, both in people and technology,” Stefan Vilsmeier, CEO of Brainlab, said. “By combining the capabilities of VoyantLink, OrthoWeb and Quentry, not only will we make diagnostic images available anytime and anywhere, but enriching, sharing and using that data for surgical treatment will be easier than ever. Brainlab also values Voyant Health’s strong PACS and distributor partnerships, and we plan to strengthen these relationships by adding more surgical planning options to their portfolio.” He added, “However, more than technology, it’s about the Voyant Health team – with Brainlab providing the resources and reach, their incredibly innovative ideas can change the world.”
Starting in July 2009, Munich-based Brainlab and Tel Aviv-based Voyant Health began a partnership to broaden the reach of surgical planning by improving and easing access to images. When combining Voyant Health’s orthopedic templating product with Digital Lightbox© by Brainlab, the companies saw more opportunities.
“Brainlab provides expanded reach and distribution that will allow Voyant Health technology to reach more healthcare facilities and their referral networks, as well as provide a gateway for Voyant Health technology into markets like neurosurgery and radiotherapy,” Zeev Glozman, CEO of Voyant Health, said. “By enabling surgical treatment planning in the cloud, we will make life much easier for imaging centers, healthcare providers and surgeons, with an end goal to improve treatment while saving costs.”
Brainlab develops, manufactures and markets software-driven medical technology that supports targeted, less-invasive treatment. Core products are image-guided systems and software that provide real-time information used for surgical navigation and radiosurgical planning and delivery.
Brainlab technology drives collaboration between hospitals and clinicians from a wide variety of subspecialties—from neurosurgery and oncology to orthopedics, ENT, CMF and spine & trauma. This integration delivers better access to improved and more efficient treatment.
Founded in 1989, the privately held Brainlab group has more than 5,000 systems installed in over 80 countries. Based in Munich, Germany, Brainlab employs 970 people in 16 offices worldwide.
