Brainlab opens newly designed office in Japan

Progressive workplace environment reflects cutting-edge technology

Tokyo, February 23, 2016 — Brainlab, a global leader in medical technology, commemorated its fifteen years in Japan with a newly designed office. The over 500 m² space is located in a vibrant area between Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge, a few minutes from the Tokyo Bay waterfront. The layout combines modern interior design typical of Brainlab spaces with traditional Japanese architectural style to create a harmonious environment that allows collaboration, creativity and productivity to flourish.

The office consists mostly of non-traditional workspaces — interactive zones, meeting areas, and an open concept kitchen and lunch area — centered around the ‘doma’, a mini amphitheater which serves as an auditorium, informal meeting space and seminar room. The custom-made desks are much larger than the average individual workspace in Japan. The new office reflects the large footprint Brainlab has in the country and underlines the company’s ambitions for further growth in Japan.

“Quality and innovation are not just a matter of the products and the services we provide, but also need to be reflected in the offices where we are developing those products and providing those services,” commented Stefan Vilsmeier, President and CEO of Brainlab. “I can’t wait to see the future evolution of our business in Japan.”

Brainlab Japan, opened in 1999, has experienced ever-increasing expansion, not only in terms of staff and infrastructure but also economic growth. Japan is the company’s second largest market after the US with almost 400 hospitals, among them many of Japan’s leading research clinics, using Brainlab technology for oncology and neurosurgery as well as spinal, orthopedic, ENT, CMF and trauma surgery.
