Troubleshooting Magic Leap

The following error messages may appear if you are using Viewer with Magic Leap.

Error Message Description/Solution

Not connected

Cannot connect to (current IP address shown)

Magic Leap cannot connect to Viewer backend because an initial connection problem occurred (e.g., the setup/configuration is not correct).

Try the following options:

  • Confirm that Viewer PC and Magic Leap are on the same network
  • Check firewall settings (NodeMaster)
  • Choose an appropriate port to communicate (NodeMaster setting)
  • Enterprise IT: enter Magic Leap MAC address to filter list
  • Refresh QR code to initiate connection via Viewer main menu (QR code)

Connection lost

Trying to reconnect…

An initial connection existed but was interrupted.

Try the following options:

  • Wait a few seconds; short disconnections reconnect automatically
  • Check that Magic Leap is set to the correct Wi-Fi (when multiple networks are possible)
  • Check network cable
  • Refresh QR code to initiate reconnection via Viewer main menu (QR code)

Viewer closed

The desktop viewer has been closed. Exiting application …

Viewer on the PC closed. It is not possible to transfer data, so the Magic Leap application shuts down.

Try the following:

  • Restart the software (PC and Magic Leap)
Internet privilege missing

Internet privilege has been denied. Viewer cannot start without approval of this privilege. Use of these privileges must be accepted when the application is first launched after installation.

Enable privileges here:

  • ML main menu/settings/applications/Viewer /privileges
LAN privilege missing

Local area network privilege has been denied. Viewer cannot start without approval of this privilege. Use of these privileges must be accepted when the application is first launched after installation.

Enable privileges here:

  • ML main menu/settings/applications/Viewer/privileges
Camera problem

Camera privilege has been denied. Viewer cannot start without approval of this privilege. Use of these privileges must be accepted when the application is first launched after installation.

Enable privileges here:

  • ML main menu/settings/applications/Viewer/privileges

Camera problem

Cannot access camera. Reboot your Magic Leap device.

The front camera is required to scan the QR code. If the camera is already in use by another application, Viewer app cannot proceed. Restart the device.
