Brainlab launches cutting-edge technology for information sharing at Arab Health 2014

Dubai, 27 January 2014 – Brainlab, a leading German provider of software-driven medical technology that supports targeted, less-invasive treatment, launched today Quentry®, a cloud-based service for image sharing and collaboration, in the Middle East. The launch was made during a press conference held at the Brainlab booth at Arab Health conference in the presence of Thomas Kraft, President RoW/Japan at Brainlab, and Firas Salih, Regional Director Middle East. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Mr. Thomas Kraft said “Quentry provides physicians a safe environment to access, control and share diagnostic images and documents. It connects experts from radiology to surgery to radiotherapy and supports clinicians throughout the referral, diagnosis, planning and treatment workflow.” Highlighting the importance of the Arab Health conference he added “Arab Health, as it is considered the largest healthcare event in the MENA region, represents a major platform for us to connect with our customers and to exhibit our high tech innovations that maintain integrity while adapting to individual budget and workflow needs”.

Quentry® is a service that provides an efficient method for rapidly accessing and sharing the increasing number of medical images and files. It reduces diagnosis and treatment delays, eliminates redundant scans, facilitates referrals, improves care coordination with specialists, and reduces dependence on problematic CDs or expensive film. Quentry provides a secure, HIPAA-compliant method of transferring and sharing images and documents between care providers and care team. Using Quentry, data can be uploaded, shared, and accessed on the web, on mobile devices, and on Brainlab Digital O.R. and Image-guided Surgery systems.

Recently, King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh has implemented the new technology developed by Brainlab, making it the first hospital in the Middle East to use Quentry. This came as an affirmation for the efforts the hospital is continuously applying to deliver the highest quality and most efficient patient care possible.

The Quentry service from Brainlab goes beyond basic sharing of images by providing physicians and care teams with patient-centric data organization, comments and notifications optimized for clinical workflow. Quentry can be readily expanded to facilitate collaborative or remote treatment planning and review using Brainlab applications for a variety of specialties. In addition, Quentry is designed to protect its data from security breaches and malicious attacks. The sophisticated security measures and architecture implemented for Quentry meet both HIPAA and HITECH requirements for PHI (Protected Health Information) and are designed in accordance with European Union Data Protection Directives.

To make sharing images and files more convenient Brainlab offers, in addition to the web portal (quentry.com), a mobile app that allows users to securely access, review and share medical data from any existing Quentry account using an iPhone or iPad.

It is worth mentioning that Brainlab, a returning exhibitor at Arab Health conference, has chosen this important event for the fourth time in a row to reveal one of its new innovations in healthcare. This reflects the importance of the fast growing Middle East health market that is becoming more and more important to the company.
