Brainlab Names New Member of Executive Board

JAN MERKER TO JOIN AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

MUNICH, May 2, 2017 –Jan Merker has been appointed to the Executive Board of Brainlab AG as Chief Operating Officer, effective May 1, 2017. He will assume responsibilities for supply chain management, IT, business process engineering, service, facility management and HR.

Jan Merker will contribute a wealth of experience from leading roles in the medical technology fields including the operational and general management of complex organizations as well as strategic development. He joins Brainlab from Maquet GmbH and MediKomp GmbH, both subsidiaries of GETINGE Group, a publicly traded Swedish medical technology company. In addition to his position as Managing Director, he headed the global supply chains of various subsidiaries within the GETINGE Group as Senior Director Operations. Previously he headed the global supply chain for the Division Surgical Workplaces within the MAQUET Group as Chief Operating Officer.

Jan Merker succeeds Dr. Christoph Pedain and completes the Executive Board with President & CEO Stefan Vilsmeier as well as Rainer Birkenbach, Executive Vice President, and Joseph Doyle, Chief Financial Officer.
