ExacTrac Dynamic Surface®, with its thermal-surface camera, is a surface guided radiation therapy (SGRT) patient tracking system that offers streamlined workflows, enables department-wide standardization and can always be upgraded to an ExacTrac Dynamic® system to include X-Ray verification.

ExacTrac Dynamic® Surface, with its thermal-surface camera, is a surface guided radiation therapy (SGRT) patient tracking system that offers streamlined workflows, enables department-wide standardization and can always be upgraded to an ExacTrac Dynamic® system to include X-Ray verification.

1
Always keep the patient in view

From the start of prepositioning to delivery of the last gray, the central position of the thermal-surface camera provides real-time monitoring and an unobstructed view of the patient. By augmenting the surface grid with thermal information, highly accurate tracking of the patient’s surface is maintained throughout the entire procedure.

2
Optimize workflows for SGRT

Surface guided radiotherapy enables precise tracking of the patient’s surface and breathing to consistently gate the beam so the tumor is only irradiated when in the planned position. Moreover, pre-defined workflows, like Deep Inspiration Breath Hold for the tattooless treatment of breast cancer, ensure that critical organs, such as the heart, are spared from unnecessary dosing.

3
Standardize the entire department
ExacTrac Dynamic Surface is easy to integrate with both Varian and Elekta linacs, supporting department-wide standardization. With its intuitive user interface, centralized patient database, training services and set of pre-defined workflows, this technology has the potential to optimize daily clinical routines.

Beyond the surface of ExacTrac Dynamic Surface

Surface imaging with 4D Thermal Camera

The 4D Thermal Camera creates a highly accurate and reliable hybrid thermal surface by correlating the patient’s heat signature to their reconstructed 3D surface structure. To achieve this, 300,000 3D surface points are acquired by two 3D cameras and matched to the heat signal obtained by the thermal camera, creating another dimension to track the patient’s position.

Seamless interoperability planned with Varian

ExacTrac Dynamic Surface is designed to interoperate with Varian’s TrueBeam® and Edge® systems using the TrueBeam 4 degrees of freedom (4DoF) couch or Perfect Pitch™ 6DoF couch top.2

The combined use of these products leverages the surface and breathing information of the patient to efficiently perform prepositioning and monitoring and gate the beam automatically as needed.

Thanks to this strong integration, clinical workflows can become more time efficient and optimized while enabling accurate tracking of the patient’s surface and providing safe radiation delivery.

Deep integration planned with Elekta

ExacTrac Dynamic Surface is fully integrated with Elekta Versa HD™ combined with HexaPOD™ 6DoF couch top or Precise Table™ 3DoF couch.2

This integration enables efficient tracking and automated beam hold based on the thermal-surface and breathing of the patient.

In addition, couch integration allows treatments to become streamlined and accelerated by directly sending shifts from ExacTrac Dynamic Surface to the treatment couch.

Experience standardized radiotherapy workflows

Standard workflow

For conventional radiotherapy workflows, patients can be prepositioned based on external imaging or surface references from previous fractions. Monitor their surface during external imaging and constantly track their thermal surface during beam delivery to maintain accuracy and safety.

Breath hold workflow

Reliably spare the organs at risk by gating the beam to the breathing motion of the patient. For final positioning, the system monitors the patient’s surface during imaging of internal anatomy and, in the same breath hold, automatically acquires a surface reference that will be tracked during treatment delivery.

Easy to upgrade, designed to standardize

Upgrading is always easy with ExacTrac Dynamic Surface. If the clinical needs of the whole department or even a specific linac change, X-Ray components can be added at any time. With the X-Ray upgrade, accuracy and efficiency can be increased by monitoring based on internal anatomy during treatment, opening the door for cranial SRS, spinal SBRT and fiducial marker treatments.

This single-camera solution is also designed with standardization in mind. When multiple systems are equipped with ExacTrac Dynamic and ExacTrac Dynamic Surface, patients can easily be distributed to specific systems based on indication.
