Leading European ENT Surgeons Share Best-Practices and Technological Advancements at 3rd Brainlab ENT Symposium
New technologies drive surgical innovation in functional endoscopic sinus surgery and beyond
Brainlab recently welcomed clinicians from across Europe for the 3rd European ENT Symposium at its headquarters in Munich. The two-day educational event provided attendees with the opportunity to hear from leading physicians about best practices, participate in open-forum discussions and gain hands-on experience with the latest ENT technology and surgical techniques.
Professor Christian Betz from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Tubingen University Hospital, who chaired the symposium, commented, “The 3rd European ENT Symposium was a great success, as it brought together leading clinical experts as well as medical technology industry partners to present and discuss cutting-edge developments in rhinologic and anterior skull base surgery.”
The symposium boasted a variety of topics ENT surgeons face today, including current challenges in rhinology, trends in skull base tumor and functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) as well as the use of 4K technology in endoscopic surgery and the operating rooms of the future. A special podium discussion, ‘Neurosurgery meets ENT & Oncology’, brought together specialists to discuss the advantages of working together across different departments to address surgical challenges for specific indications.
“It is fascinating where advancements in FESS and skull base procedures have taken and will take us in the near future,” commented Rainer Birkenbach, Chief Technology Officer at Brainlab. “In addition to commonly used technologies like surgical electromagnetic navigation, we also gave our ENT Symposium attendees insights into other relevant technologies, such as secure cloud-based patient image sharing and robotics.”
Brainlab partnered with Ludwig Maximilians University Munich, Olympus, Medineering Surgical Robotics and Innoforce Creative Solutions to provide attendees with a well-rounded, stimulating program.
