Digital O.R. – Raising the Bar for Information Integration in the Operating Room

BRAINLAB DISPLAYS DIGITAL INTEGRATION IN THE OPERATING ROOM AT ASSOCIATION OF PERIOPERATIVE REGISTERED NURSES GLOBAL SURGICAL CONFERENCE & EXPO

Boston, March 30, 2017

Today Brainlab showcases its fully integrated Digital O.R. at the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Global Surgical Conference & Expo in Boston. Over 10,000 perioperative nurses will be in attendance at AORN to learn, network, and discover the latest technological trends. The digital operating room configuration from Brainlab includes Buzz® , the next generation O.R. centralized information hub.

Buzz is part of the larger Digital O.R. technology concept from Brainlab that aims to streamline workflows with IP-based video routing as well as robust integration with HIS and PACS VNAs. With an easy to use smartphone-like user interface, Buzz integrates the workflows of all O.R. staff, including nurses. The system features automatic pre-fetching of patient data, surgical checklists, DICOM Viewer for on-the-fly 3D reconstructions, as well as streaming and conferencing capabilities.

Leading institutions around the world such as Medisch Spectrum Twente, Netherlands, have opted for advanced, future-proof Brainlab Digital O.R. solutions that simplify access to clinical information. Adding to the already 400+ digitally integrated operating rooms globally, University Hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar in Munich is installing Brainlab Digital O.R. technology in eight new operating rooms this summer.

“Brainlab Digital O.R. technology focuses on simplifying workflows and allowing the O.R. team to efficiently and effectively leverage the masses of digital information that are generated in modern O.R.s” commented Rainer Birkenbach, Brainlab Executive Vice President. “With Buzz at the center, all this relevant clinical data is easily accessible at the touch of a finger.”
Visitors to AORN 2017 have the opportunity to experience this technology first-hand, to see Buzz 2.0*, which will be released in April, and to discuss their O.R. challenges with experts from Brainlab.
