AAPM 2014

The American Association of Physicists of Medicine (AAPM) Annual Meeting & Exhibition

The American Association of Physicists of Medicine (AAPM) Annual Meeting & Exhibition

Austin | July 20 – 24 | Austin Convention Center | Booth #345

What´s new at AAPM Annual Meeting 2014 in Austin

The American Association of Physicists of Medicine Annual Meeting and Exhibition is the largest gathering of medical physicists of the world. The meeting brings together clinicians, vendors, scientists and other industry professionals to exchange practical knowledge and share advancements in the field.
The overarching theme this year’s Meeting is ‘innovation’—a topic that Brainlab embraces and embodies with the radiotherapy and radiosurgery products that we will be showcasing at AAPM as we celebrate our 25th anniversary.

Novalis Circle Symposium: A Work of Arc

Brainlab invites you to join A Work of Arc to learn about the array of indication specific arc technologies, aimed at perfecting dosimetric outcomes via automatic planning and streamlined workflows. The patented algorithms support specific technical and clinical challenges of various cranial and body cancers to ensure ideal output of various radiation delivery devices, enabling standardization of treatment protocols.

Brainlab Innovation in RT Technology and Beyond

Brainlab is proud to showcase some new software applications to help streamline and expedite the radiotherapy planning process.
Automatic Brain Metastases Planning*, part of Brainlab Elements, enables monitor-unit and time efficient radiosurgery for brain metastases while minimizing dose to normal brain tissue and providing new treatment possibilities for larger volumes and higher numbers of metastases. This highly intuitive software tool can be used in conjunction with ExacTrac 6D Patient Positioning and Monitoring System to ensure optimal patient setup.

With InverseArc*, Brainlab is pleased to introduce a universal treatment plan conversion tool that reproduces the dose characteristics of any given treatment plan with a volumetric modulated arc (VMAT) technique of uncompromised quality. InverseArc can optimize plans to unlock the potential of VMAT treatments for most established linear accelerators.

Particularly interesting for Brainlab hardware is this year’s focus on the integration of advanced imaging technologies to guide radiation therapy treatments. A scale model of Vero SBRT, our most versatile radiotherapy delivery system, will be on display, showcasing its imaging and positioning capabilities including integrated Cone Beam CT, stereo fluoroscopy, as well as unique Dynamic Tumor Tracking.

When considering ‘innovation’, Brainlab is now moving beyond technology and expanding into the critical arena of quality assurance in an effort to encourage treatment efficacy and safety at Brainlab centers. The Novalis Certified Program is an independent accreditation program, with a highly focused review of SRS and SBRT. Accreditation is performed via onsite reviews that underpin the center’s clinical capabilities and highest standards in treatment delivery, promoting long-term value.
