Design Engineer – Surgical Instruments


What to expect

For our growing division R&D Instruments we are looking for a mechanical design engineer. You will be part of a motivated and dynamic team developing surgical instruments and accessories for neurosurgical, spinal and orthopedic image guided procedures. Your contribution has an impact on daily work in hospitals resulting in improved treatments of patients around the world.

Your main tasks are:

  • working in small teams developing reusable and disposable medical products
  • taking own areas of responsibility within the project and in a matrix organization
  • developing medical devices for image guided surgery from first idea to market launch including:
    • systematic development of concepts and proof thereof
    • patent research and filing of own ideas
    • design of mechanical devices
    • simulation and device optimization
    • prototyping and testing
    • creation of technical documents according to international and company standards
    • maintenance activities for medical products
    • driving the development process through own ideas and innovations for better products

What you offer

  • education in (mechanical) engineering or related discipline
  • enthusiasm for technology and a creative mind
  • ability and commitment for problem solving
  • knowledge of typical manufacturing methods (e.g. milling and turning)
  • basic understanding of clinical workflows
  • excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • good German is a strong plus
